WHAT ARE YOUR PRODUCTS MADE FROM?
Resin, in some form. Some are created using a two-part, poured resin. Others are 3D printed with a UV-sensitive resin. Ears and stickers are made from various other materials.
SO WHO ARE YOU?
A techy and a teacher. We are a blended family of five humans and too many animals. Storytelling is big in our house and we love to share!
WHERE ARE YOUR DESIGNS FROM?
Our heads! With the exception of the Mirror Cave, all products are 100% unique to our brand. The MirrorCave borrows it's base shape from an original park crystal but is largely bored out.
We mindstorm storylines together and discuss design language. K out to do the modeling while S works on art and language. It's a group process that we very much cherish. For that reason, we do not sell our models.
WHY ARE YOUR SHIPPING TIMES SO FAR OUT?
We put a lot of attention and love into our work. We also have three kids and two very demanding 'day' jobs! While our listings show four weeks, that is to ensure we can do a full cycle production run if needed. Typically we ship earlier but we'd rather impress than miss the expectation.
HOW MANY ARE IN A PRODUCTION RUN?
That depends entirely on the product! Design complexity and creation method are the largest factors. Poured items tend to be 5-10 at a time depending on how many molds are open. Printed items are usually 10-18 per print run depending on the model.
WHAT NUMBER IS MY CRYSTAL?
We number as we go and that only started with the KOTOR series. We've waited in line and missed our chance at owning something. It doesn't feel good. We don't believe in that. If a run is limited, it's due to the availability of material or because we no longer enjoy making it. Short, simple, honest and direct. Planned scarcity will never be our model.
WHY DON'T YOU ADVERTISE MORE?
This goes close to our answer on shipping times. To be short, we're busy! If we have a lot of active sales, we back down on marketing a bit. Sales are ALWAYS a good thing but so are weekends with family and just enjoying our own nerdy time together.
WOULD YOU MAKE MY CUSTOM CRYSTAL THAT ...
We get this a lot - sometimes the answer is yes, but it's often no. While we've heard some really awesome design ideas, we normally send those to another maker in our group that is better suited. If we can't make a good story of it, we aren't likely to pursue a custom design - no matter the price - because if we don't love it, we won't make it.
